Mogadon is a drug used for the management of sleeping disorder like insomnia. It acts on the chemicals of the central nervous system. Insomnia is a sleeping disorder. The common causes of insomnia are stress, illness, physical or emotional discomfort, environmental conditions, hypertension. Mogadon is one of the most effective and fastest acting drugs available at very cheap rates.

Dosage

The prescribed dose of Mogadon in treatment of insomnia is one tablet taken before you go to bed. This drug is used for shorter duration not more than 7-10 consecutive days. The dose of the drug recommended according to age, body weight, disease condition and medical history. Side Effects

Side effect is defined as the unwanted effect other than the useful effects with the normal dose. The side effect of any drug may be temporary or permanent.

The common side effect of the Mogadon is stomach pain, vision problem, heartburn, increased saliva, clumsiness, muscle pain, constipation, nausea, diarrhoea, urine infection, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, tiredness. Some of the rare and serious side effects are delusions, agitation, behavioural changes, confusion, depression, irregular heartbeat, fainting, hallucination, muscle weakness, unusual excitement, and weakness.

  • Do not recommend this drug to pregnant and lactating mothers.
  • Do not have this drug if you have problem of asthma and other respiratory disorders.
  • This drug is habit forming drug so do not take this drug for longer periods.

  • Avoid alcohol consumption because it increases drowsiness.
  • Patient with kidney and liver disorder should not take this drug without consulting your health provider.

Nitrazepam is the main the active pharmaceutical ingredient in Mogadon which belongs to the category of benzodiazepines. This drug is used for the short term treatment of sleeping disorder like insomnia. Insomnia is a condition in which patient feels difficulty in sleeping during night, early morning awakening, and frequent awakening during night. This drug can also be used to manage myoclonic seizures. Nitrazepam acts by diminishing the effect of nerves in the brain or central nervous system. Nitrazepam shows its effect on GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) receptor which is present in central nervous system. It is neurotransmitters which act as the messengers between nerves and brain. This drug inhibits the action of GABA receptors and makes you relief from insomnia.

Contraindication:

Drug interactions:

 Anaesthetics like Enflurane , Desflurane

  • Anticonvulsants, Diazepam, clozepam.
  • antihistamines like chlorpheniramine, dimenhydrinate,
  • Antifungal like fluconazole, ketoconazole
  • barbiturates like phenobarbital
  • antibiotics like clarithromycin, erythromycin
  • narcotic-containing drugs like codeine, fentanyl,
  • other benzodiazepines like alprazolam, diazepam,
  • phenothiazine like chlorpromazine, promethazine,
  • sedatives like zopiclone, chloral hydrate)
  • tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline, imipramine)

 Overdose

Do not take the overdose of the drug. Overdose of drug may cause some serious side effects that may be fatal. Some of the common symptoms of overdose that require medical help are drowsiness, confusion, muscle weakness, impaired balance, coma and fainting. If by chance you have taken the over seek immediate medical help.

Missed dose:

Do not miss the dose of regular schedule but if by chance you missed your dose take it as soon as you remember. But if you forget for longer periods near to the next dose skip that dose and follow the regular schedule. Do not take over dose or a double dose to compensate the missed dose.
