What is Zoden?


Zoden is an antihistamine which decreases the effects of natural histamine of your body. Oversaturation of the natural histamine can cause the development of the symptoms like sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose or itching. Zoden is a combination medication of Chlorpheanramine, dextromethorphan and phenylephrine, which is used for the temporary treatment of cough, stuffy nose, sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes or itching. How does Zoden work?

When the patient takes this medication, the active ingredient Chlorpheniraminemingles with histamine H1 receptor. This leads to the inhibition of the function of endogenous histamine.This result in temporary reduction of the negative signs and symptoms caused by the saturated natural histamines of the body. This medication is not ideal for long-term cough from smoke or any respiratory diseases. It can be used for acute cough. It works as an expectorant by loosening the mucus. It gives a symptomatic relieve in the treatment of nasal congestion by narrowing the vessels in the nose.

What is the doasge of Zoden?

This medication is available at the strength of 5mg and 10mg. The initial dose is 5mg, once in a day before bed time. Depending on the severity of the condition, your health care provider may increase the strength according to the requirement.

It is also available in liquid form for children between the age of 6-12 years,  which is given as 2 dropperfuls (2ml) in every 4-6 hourly, should not exceed the dose more than 4 doses.

What are the side effects of Zoden?

Some of the common side effects of this medication are headache and nausea. Talk to your doctor if the conditions become worst. The patients under this medication rarely develop any serious side effects. Take medical assistance if you notice any serious symptom like tremor fainting, dizziness, irregular heart rates, painful urination, mood changes, nervousnes, sleep disturbance or seizure.
