How does Careprost eye drop work?
Careprost eye drops contain bimatoprost0.03% which is a synthetic analogue of natural prostamide. Prostamide is a prostaglandin-like chemical compound that exhibits the particular actions on various tissues of human body. One of the important functions of this medication is that, it has a potency to reduce the intraocular pressure (ocular hypotension) in glaucoma. Intraocular pressure is a condition which occurs due to the blockage in the draining system for fluids (aqueous humour). Aqueous humour is formed continuously in your eyes to maintain normal eye pressure. Bimatoprost 0.03% binds to the receptors in your eyes as prostamide. This leads to increase flow of aqueous humour out of your eye through the trabecular network. Trabecular networks are the spongy tissues, which is the main route of drainage for the aqueous fluids. The drainage happens by decreasing the pressure-sensitive resistance and makes the fluids drain out by opening up the trabecular mesh. Once the flow ofthe fluidbecomes balanced, the pressure is reduced in the eyes. Thus, it prevents the damage of the optic nerve and blindness in glaucoma.
