How does dapoxetine acts in your body?

The exact mechanism of dapoxetine is still not very clear. But according to the different scientific study, it is presumed that dapoxedine acts by inhibiting the neuronal uptake of serotonin mediator, which is responsible for the PE and subsequently increases the action of serotonin. What are the Contra-indication ?

Interaction with monoamine oxidase inhibitor:

Since dapoxetine hydrochloride is an SSRI, it has a potential to interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors that may cause to develop the following symptoms like,

• Hyperthermia
• Rigidity
• Autonomic instability
• Delirium
• Coma

Interaction with Thioridazides:

Dapoxetine hydrochloride should not be given in combination with thioridazone. Since thioridazone has some side effects, so giving this drug with dapoxetine may cause many serious complications. You should never use this drug in combination with other drug or within 14 days of the discontinuation of thioridazone treatment.

Interaction with anti haemorrhoids:

There is no clear data about the drug interaction of dapoxetine hydrochloride with anti haemorrhoids, but it is advised to take caution when using this drug with anti-haemorrhoids.

Interaction with PDE inhibitors:

There is no history of changing the effects of PDE5 while using in combination with dapoxetine hydrochloride.

Interaction with ethanol:

According to the study, ethanol at the dose of 0.5 mg cannot change the mechanism of dapoxetine. But the concomitant use of ethanol may increase the chance of adverse effect of dapoxetine like, dizziness, drowsiness or altered judgment etc.

Interaction with tomsulosin:

There is no evidence of alteration of the mechanism of dapoxetine when it is given along with tomsulosin neither on the strength of 30mg nor 60mg. But you should always take the advice from your healthcare provider before starting a dose of dapoxetine.

What if i Overdose Dapoxetine ?

There is no evidence of overdose found of dapioxetine hydrochloride. According to a clinical pharmacological study, a daily dose of 240mg has no adverse effect (120mg, given twice, three hours apart). But in case, if overdose reacts, you may develop the following general symptoms:

• Nausea and vomiting
• Tremors
• Agitation
• Increased heart rate
• Dizziness

How to Store Dapoxetine ?

Dapoxetine hydrochloride is available in tablet form, in blister strips. Always keep the tablet in a cool and dry place, out of reach of tablets. Never use the expired drugs. Always throw out the unused drugs after 30 days.

Precautions for using dapoxetine:

Since dapoxetine is an SSRI, it is better to consult with your doctor before taking the drug. Some of the precautions you can take while you are taking dapoxetine hydrochloride:

• You should always avoid the drug dapoxetine hydrochloride in combination with recreational drugs like ketamine, lysergic or diethylamide because it may cause complication like dizziness, hyperthermia, arrhythmia. So never go for driving any vehicles or surgical procedure after taking this medication.
• You should consult with your physician if you develop syncope after taking this drug with higher strength of ethanol. Syncope is a condition where the patient loses the conscious. So you should always avoid going out alone after you take dapoxetine hydrochloride.
• You should always go for a check-up of orthostatic hypotension before you initiate the therapy. Because dapoxetine can cause complication if you have orthostatic hypotension. The patient should always inform his/her doctor before taking the drug like light headedness soon after standing.
• You should always consult with your doctor if have to take dapoxetine while you are taking any CYP3A4 like erythromycin, clarithromycin, fluconazole, verapamil, deltiazin.
• Some long term studies showed that using the SSRI compound increase the suicidal thinking compared to the short-term studies in children and adolescent with some diseases like depression or any psychiatric disorder. So always be cautious using this drug category.
• Always avoid the SSRI or dapoxetine hydrochloride in a patient who has uncontrolled epilepsy because it has the potential to lower the seizure threshold.
• You should be very careful in taking dapoxetine if have any haemorrhagic disorder, because it has a potential effect on the platelets.
• You should always take medical assistance if you develop any eye problem when you take dapoxetine, because patient who take this drug, has a tendency to develop mydiasis or glaucoma.
